Graves For the Dead
After discovering these mass graves the
bodies were dug up and were closley
investigated by authhorities.
When the Germans found these barial sites they discovered that there was seven mass
graves spread out throughout the forest. The bodies in these seven Mass graves were
laid on their stomaches with their arms reaching up or tied behind thier backs. "Some
soldiars had thier mouths stuffed with sawdust others with pieces of felt tied behind
thier necks, bound and blindfolded with coats on thier heads, any form of resistance
would result in almost instant stangulation." (Gkrolik). In each grave there were ten to
twelve layers of corpses. By microscope analisis the soldair appeared to be shot in the
back of their heads.
Soviet, Nazi Relationship
When the Soviets burried the Polish naval
officers there were 10 to 12 layers of bodies. On August 23, 1939 there was a Pact created
in order to restore peace between the
Soviet Union and Germany. The Pact was acually
created by the Soviets, put in orders by thier
leader, Stalin. (Stalin's Purges) After Germany signed the Pact the Germans and the Russians were at peace. Still afriad that the Germans would invade, the Soviets killed over 4,000 Polish officers in the Katyn Forest. "At the start of it when Germany had recently invaded Poland, the Russians were with the Germans, and the "Axis" side of the war, little after the germans betrayed the Soviets which made them turn to the British and Americans making them become Allies.
Nazi-Soviet Pact...
The Nazi-soviet Pact was created on August 23, 1939. "In the Nazi-Soviet Pact of August 23, 1939, a vehemently anti-communist Germany shocked the world by coming to to terms with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, a necessary premilinary to Adolf Hitler's (the leader of the Nazis...Life in Concentration Camps) imminent attack on Poland."(Gkrolik.) This Pact declared Peace between the two major countries involved in the war. Many citizens in Europe had theories that the Soviets had composed this Pact in order for the Germans not to invade Russia. later in the war the Germans would invade Russia inregarding the Pact, sending the Solviets from the (Axis) powers to the (Allies).
After finding the bodies, they were dug up and the bodies were inspected.
