Gas Chambers

Page history last edited by underdog 13 years, 11 months ago

In concentration camps the Nazi's used gas chambers to kill the Jews and many others.  Each day about 6,000 people would be killed!  The Nazi's used a mixture of gas to kill the Jews and it usually only took about two to three minutes to kill the innocent victims.  Depending on how many people are in the chamber at a time depends on how long it will take to kill the people in the chamber.  If their was more people in the chamber, they would die faster, less people, quicker.  The gas chambers at the Holocaust were horrible because of the conditions of the chamber , the ways the people reacted, and who was all sent to the chamber made the gas chambers a death trap.

The gas chambers at concentration camps were just horrifying.  The chambers would hold up 100 people and kill every one of them (Liebeskind) They used a mixture of gases to kill these innocent people.  They put shower heads in the chamber to believe the victims were entering a shower room (Liebeskind). The survivor explained, “The grievous wailing of all those women who knew they were going to be gassed” (Testimony on gasssing).  Usually in a concentration camps there was one or two chambers; in Auschwitz, there was four (Liebeskind)!  When the victims would die, their remains were put onto an oven to burn (Liebeskind).

The little amount of people who knew they were going to be gassed did  everything they could to stop the Jews.  They would try to jumping off trucks before they got to the chamber because they were going to die (be gassed) (Testimony on the gassing). The survivor once said,“They knew they were to die going into the chamber"  (Testimony on gassing )  They were made to undress before entering the chamber and use a towel to believe its a shower room (Testimony on the gassing).  It would take about two or three minutes to die from the gas (Testimony on the gassing).  If there were large amount of people in the chamber, they would die quicker (Testimony on the gassing).  If there were small amount of people it would take longer to die (Testimony on the gassing).  The victims would get headaches, maybe throw up, past out, and then die (Testimony on the gassing)

To be sent the gas chamber, you had to be weak or did something wrong (JERBfilms)When people were sent to the chamber the Nazi soldiers would send a postcard to their family saying they were okay and got a job; but really they were about to enter the camp or be gassed (JERBfilms).  The Nazi did everything they could just to ruin the lives of these people.  Up to about 6,000 Jews and other prisoners were gasses a day (JERBfilms)Once explained,  “Struck the naked women going to their death. They knew they were going to the gas chamber and tried to escape. They were massacred." (Testimony on gassing).  The Nazis would take children away from their parents just to drive the parents crazy.
